Does performing Tarawih or Tahajjud prayers in congregation at the mosque equate to praying them individually by twenty-seven degrees, or is the matter different concerning supererogatory prayers? What is the minimum amount of night vigil (Qiyam al-Layl) that falls under the Prophet's saying, peace be upon him: "Whoever stood (in prayer) during Laylat al-Qadr..."? And if one misses one or more nights of Qiyam Ramadan, does the virtue of the hadith: "Whoever stood (in prayer) during Ramadan out of faith..." become forfeited?

Performing Tarawih prayer in congregation at the mosque does not yield a 27-fold reward, as this is specific to obligatory prayers. Scholars have cited the hadith (definition): "A person's prayer in his home is better than his prayer in this mosque of mine, except for the obligatory prayer." The forgiveness of sins mentioned in the hadith: "Whoever stands (in prayer) during Ramadan (definition) out of faith and hope for reward, his past sins will be forgiven," is attained by whoever prays all nights of Ramadan, or intends to do so if unable. The 'standing (in prayer)' during Ramadan is achieved by performing acts of worship such as Tarawih, reciting the Quran, praying, remembering Allah, or seeking Islamic knowledge.
