Is it permissible for a wife to ask her husband for an increase in the allowance for her and her children and for some household necessities, given that she does not receive a special allowance or gifts, and despite her fear that her request might be extravagant or a sign of discontent with Allah’s provision, and based on her dissatisfaction with their current home situation?

The maintenance of the wife and children is obligatory upon the husband to the extent of sufficiency in food, drink, clothing, and housing, and the husband should be generous towards his family. Giving gifts to the wife gains her affection and strengthens the marital relationship. If the woman knows her husband's consent to her taking from his money for her luxury needs, then there is no blame upon her. The expense of children's education is included in the obligatory maintenance and takes precedence over the maintenance of relatives, while sports and courses fall under being generous. There is no harm in changing household furniture when needed, and extravagance varies according to people's circumstances, so there is no harm for a woman to ask her husband to be generous towards herself and her children.
