What is the ruling on praying in clothes or on a prayer mat acquired from ill-gotten wealth, and will one be rewarded for attending knowledge gatherings obtained through devices purchased with ill-gotten wealth, and is it permissible to pay a bribe from this wealth to move from this place?
You must offer sincere repentance for the bribe you took, as it is a grave sin, and its perpetrator is cursed by the tongue of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him. Your money is mixed, not entirely unlawful, and your salary is permissible. Your prayers and lectures are valid, as the sin relates to earning unlawful money, not to praying or listening. You must dispose of the illicit money you acquired through bribery. It is not permissible for you to pay a bribe to transfer from your job. Rather, you must strive to be chaste and abandon unlawful gain, and exert effort in enjoining good and forbidding evil, advising your colleagues, and reporting them to the authorities if they do not respond. Seek Allah's help and supplicate to Him to forgive you, assist you, and keep you steadfast.
