All praise is due to Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and companions.

If your father is abusive and unjust, this does not negate his right to dutifulness and companionship with kindness. It is permissible for adult children to live separately from their father without this being considered disobedience. If the mother is content to stay with the father, it is not permissible to remove her from his home. However, if she is divorced or harmed by staying with him, it is permissible to house her away from him. Living separately does not permit cutting off or abandoning the father; rather, dutifulness to him and visiting him to an extent that does not cause harm are obligatory, along with gentle admonition and guidance towards goodness.
