Is it permissible for an accountant experiencing severe financial hardship and burdened with many debts to resort to usurious borrowing from the company he works for, knowing that he lives in a secular country where no Islamic financial alternatives exist?

Usury (riba) is among the great prohibitions, and it is not permissible to borrow with it except out of necessity that permits the forbidden, such as perishing or being on the verge of it. There are Islamic banks in Tunisia that can be dealt with. One should strive to find lawful means to meet needs and increase in seeking forgiveness (istighfar) and supplication (du'a), for in them lies the relief of worries and the facilitation of affairs.
