The greatest gift Islam offers is its introduction of humanity to God and His law, which encompasses the development of the earth, the benefit of people, and the harmonization of worldly and otherworldly well-being. Westerners have acknowledged that their civilization was founded upon the knowledge of Muslims. Gustave Le Bon confirms that Western universities drew their knowledge for five centuries from the works of Muslims, who civilized Europe materially, intellectually, and morally. The Muslims' beneficence was not limited to themselves; rather, they profoundly influenced the civilization of both East and West, refined barbarians, and opened the world of knowledge to Europe.

Islam did not merely command its followers to individual righteousness; it also mandated that they reform nations through calling to good, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and striving in the way of Allah. This is the cause of the nation's salvation and the rectitude of the earth. As Allah Almighty says: (And if Allah had not repelled [some] people by means of others, the earth would have been corrupted. But Allah is the possessor of bounty for the worlds). And as the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "The likeness of the one who stands within the limits of Allah and the one who falls into them is like that of a people who drew lots for [places in] a ship..." He also said, peace be upon him: "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, you must enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, or Allah will soon send a punishment upon you from Him, and then you will supplicate, but your supplication will not be answered." Thus, a Muslim is required to uphold truth and show mercy to creation, which is the reform entrusted to this nation, as Allah Almighty says: (And those who hold fast to the Book and establish prayer - indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of the reformers).
