Is polygyny mentioned in the Quran, and what are the guidelines for coexisting with it without compromising beliefs?

Among the wisdoms of polygyny are increasing the Muslim nation, addressing the surplus of women over men, providing a solution for social problems such as spinsterhood, accommodating a man's strong desires, and cases of infertility or illness of the wife. Polygyny is not exclusive to Islam, and conflict between wives does not preclude its permissibility, as each wife has the right to a separate dwelling. It is not permissible for a woman to have multiple husbands because it would lead to the loss of lineage and the disintegration of the family.
