Are photographers among those who will suffer the most severe torment on the Day of Judgment, even if their bad deeds outweigh their good deeds by one?

The photographers who draw animate beings or make statues are those intended by "the most severely punished people on the Day of Resurrection." The severity of punishment for photographers varies according to their intention and action:

1. First Case (Most Severe Punishment): Whoever intends by their photography to imitate Allah's creation, or makes idols to be worshipped instead of Allah, this act may amount to disbelief that expels one from the faith, and their punishment will be more severe than usury and fornication.

2. Second Case (Forbidden but Not the Most Severe): Whoever does not intend imitation or worship, their action is forbidden but does not fall under the absolute threat of being the most severely punished people in general, nor is it said of them that they are more severely punished than the fornicator and the usurer.

Scholars have answered concerning the absolute statement of "most severe" by saying that it may mean that the photographer is among those who are severely punished, or that the intention is to differentiate between photographers themselves according to their state and intention.
