How can it be reconciled that Allah Almighty created humans with hearing and sight, while there are people who have lost their sense of hearing or sight?

Allah Almighty has blessed people with hearing and sight, and these are two blessings about which the servant will be questioned on the Day of Judgment. So, whoever uses them in obedience to Allah will succeed, and whoever uses them in His disobedience will lose. Allah has made hearing, sight, and intellect for the servant to ponder over Allah's signs and proofs with them. As for one who is born without both hearing and sight, he is not considered legally accountable, because he is in the position of one whom Allah's message has not reached. There is no accountability except after knowledge and ability, and one whom the call has not reached will not be punished.
