A man must be just among his wives regarding lodging, dwelling, and financial support. - Hanafi school: It is recommended for him to draw lots when traveling. He may choose whomever he wishes without drawing lots and without making up for it. - Maliki school: He chooses the one suitable for travel, except in journeys of devotion like Hajj and military campaigns, in which case lots are drawn, and there is no making up for it. - Shafi'i school: He must draw lots for permissible travel (whether long or short), unless they consent. Otherwise, he is sinful and must make up for it. As for travel for relocation, it is forbidden to take some of them, and he must make up for the ones left behind. - Hanbali school: He may not travel with some of his wives without drawing lots or their consent. Otherwise, he is sinful and must make up for it. In travel for relocation: If it is possible to take all of them, he should do so. If it is not possible or difficult, and he sends them with a mahram, there is no making up for it. If he singles out one wife by drawing lots, he must make up for the remaining wives the duration of her stay with him in that town.

The preponderant opinion: It is not permissible to travel with some wives without others, unless by drawing lots or with their consent. If he does so, he is sinful, and they have the right to demand their due or to be patient. Marrying a second wife is permissible on condition of justice, and the first wife has no right to refuse. The supplication of the oppressed is answered.
