Did the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) wipe over his khuff (leather socks) in Medina, when not traveling or engaged in a غزوة (military expedition)?

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) established the permissibility of wiping over the khuff (leather socks) for one day and one night for a resident, and three days and nights for a traveler. Ibn al-Mundhir reported the consensus of scholars on the permissibility of wiping over the khuff, and this is supported by authentic, continuously transmitted (mutawatir) hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) both while resident and traveling. Among these is the hadith of Hudhayfah, who narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and wiped over his khuff in Medina, and the hadith of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who mentioned the duration of wiping for the traveler and the resident.
