Does the marriage take place if a man contracts a marriage with a woman and does not consummate it with her, then divorces her without her knowledge, and marries another woman without his mother's consent?

Parents are not permitted to force their child to marry a woman he does not desire. If it happens that the son accepts under duress, the marriage is valid, and he has the choice to remain or separate. This has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Divorce in this case is effective, whether the parents know or not, and whether they approve or not. However, it is preferable to consider the parents' approval out of dutifulness to them.
