What is the ruling on selling talismans that contain Quranic verses along with strange symbols? Are they considered permissible amulets or a form of magic and polytheism, bearing in mind the opinions of scholars other than Ibn Taymiyyah and Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab?

Scholars, both ancient and modern, have asserted that the sciences of tables, talismans, amulets, and astrology are among the false sciences, and they have considered them to be branches of magic. Sheikh Sidi Abdullah Al-Alawi Al-Shinqiti mentioned several types, such as talismans that rely on engraving names related to celestial spheres and planets, incantations through which they claim angels can be obeyed, and the utilization of planets and jinn. Ruqyah (exorcism/healing recitation) is not permissible with talismans or with anything whose meaning is unknown, as that could be magic or polytheism, due to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Indeed, ruqyah, amulets, and love charms are polytheism." What is meant by ruqyah in this Hadith is ruqyah that involves polytheism with Allah.
