What is the Sharia ruling regarding parents' refusal to marry off their religious daughter to religious suitors for various reasons, and how can one reconcile filial piety with dealing with this rejection that causes distress to the daughter?

Patience and kindness to parents are obligatory, for their right is great. Allah has coupled His worship with kindness to them, and their right is not forfeited by their shortcomings. Moreover, showing kindness to them despite their harshness earns a greater reward. It is not permissible in Islamic law to prevent a girl from marrying and reject a suitable suitor without a legitimate reason. One must overlook their ill-treatment and supplicate for them.
