What is the religious ruling regarding a father refusing to marry off his daughter to a suitor whom she deems suitable, on the pretext of fearing for his other daughter’s marriage and his desire for a wealthy person, while the father knows of the girl's approval and satisfaction with the suitor? And does the girl have the right to insist on this suitor, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is nothing like marriage for two who love each other"?

The father is refusing his daughter's marriage for unjustified reasons, and this marriage might positively affect family relations. The father does not have the right to refuse a suitor if he is religious, of good character, and suitable, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If there comes to you one whose religion and character you approve, then marry [your daughter] to him; otherwise, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption." It is advised to speak to the father gently and kindly and to explain the desire to complete the marriage.
