Is a husband permitted to prevent his wife from befriending women despite her need for that due to her feeling of loneliness in a foreign land?

Marital life is not without its difficulties, and patience, overlooking mistakes, and each partner enduring the other helps to overcome them. Allah Almighty says: "And that you pardon is nearer to righteousness. And do not forget graciousness between you. Indeed, Allah, of whatever you do, is Seeing." The wife is advised to fill her free time with what benefits her in her religion and worldly life, and to avoid excessive mingling with people, which may lead to gossip. The husband is advised to fear Allah concerning his wife, and to allow her to contact her family and relatives if no harm results from it, and to emulate the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in honoring his wife, for he said: "The best of you is the best to his family, and I am the best of you to my family."
