What is the ruling on a husband smiling and being friendly with non-Muslim foreign women in public places, while he prevents his wife from dealing with men in study and work? And what is the solution to this problem?
Jealousy is commendable if it is moderate. If a man exaggerates in his jealousy, his wife should gently advise him that excessiveness is blameworthy. Lenience in dealing with foreign women is dangerous and an excuse for corruption, which is why jurists have forbidden speaking with foreign women without need. The Sharia commanded lowering the gaze from what is forbidden, for it preserves one's chastity and rectifies the heart. The wife should explain to her husband the danger of his lenience in dealing with foreign women and urge him to attend gatherings of knowledge, advising him gently and wisely, and maintaining a good marital relationship so that her advice may be accepted.
