It indicates the obligation of a wife's obedience to her husband, which is affirmed by the guardianship (Qawamah) mentioned in the Quran. This obedience, in what is good, takes precedence over obedience to anyone else, as long as it does not involve disobedience to Allah. It contributes to the stability of marital life and the definition of responsibilities, thereby achieving both public and private interests. Obedience does not mean tyranny or neglecting the rights of parents.
