Is it obligatory for a resident of Mecca who performed Hajj last year to circumambulate the Farewell Tawaf when traveling to Egypt, or is it permissible for him to perform a voluntary Tawaf at the time of Maghrib and travel just before the dawn of the following day?

Whoever wishes to depart from Mecca must perform the Farewell circumambulation (Tawaf al-Wada'), whether they are residents or visitors, and whether they came for a pilgrimage or for trade. This is based on the statement of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "The people were commanded that their last act should be with the House (Kaaba), except that it was lightened for the menstruating woman."

It is permissible to combine the Farewell circumambulation with a supererogatory circumambulation (Tawaf al-Nafl) or other types of circumambulation. The important thing is that it is the last act before departing from the House.

The circumambulation must be performed immediately before departing from Mecca. Thus, the circumambulation is not valid if one stays in Mecca after performing it and then departs.
