How can one achieve righteousness in this life, and what is the ruling on dealing with family members addicted to masturbation who refuse to stop, knowing that the questioner lives and eats with them?

The ruling on masturbation and its harm has been previously explained, and you are obliged to advise those who practice it. As for attaining the righteousness (al-birr) mentioned in His (the Most High) saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety," this is achieved by performing good deeds, including spending from what one loves, due to His (the Most High) saying: "You will not attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love."
