Do we believe in the Prophet Jeremiah in Islam, and if so, what is his story and the story of the first four verses of Surat Al-Isra?

Belief in Allah's Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) is one of the fundamentals of faith. A servant's faith is not complete without believing in all of Allah's Messengers, generally in what is general, and specifically in what is specific. The name "Jeremiah" is not mentioned in the Holy Quran or in the Prophetic Sunnah (definition), nor is it confirmed that he was one of the prophets. Rather, it is something mentioned by historians. Such matters do not obligate us to believe them, due to the possibility of their falsehood, nor to disbelieve them, due to the possibility of their truth. Rather, we reserve judgment concerning them. However, more than one historian and narrator has mentioned that Jeremiah (peace be upon him) was a prophet from among the prophets of the Children of Israel.
