Is it reprehensible to curse the alarm clock and everything that awakens one for prayer, by analogy with the reprehensibility of cursing the rooster mentioned in the حديث (Hadith): "Do not curse the rooster, for it awakens [you] for prayer"?

The Hadith prohibiting the cursing of a rooster is an authentic Hadith narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and others. The reason for it is that a rooster crowed in the presence of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and a man cursed it. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then forbade him from doing so, saying: "For it invites to prayer." This indicates that anyone from whom good is benefited should not be cursed, and that whoever aids in obedience deserves praise, not blame.

The prohibition against cursing a rooster is absolute, unlike cursing an alarm clock that wakes one for prayer and other things. Cursing it is restricted to the condition that it aids in obedience to Allah. As for the rooster, its crowing occurs when it sees angels, and it has been narrated in the Sunnah to ask Allah for His bounty upon hearing roosters crow.
