How is the inheritance to be divided between me and my siblings if I outlive my father? Is the land and what is on it to be divided equally among us, or does the partnership contract continue, so that I become a partner with the heirs, knowing that I am one of them?

It is permissible for a son to enter into a sharecropping agreement with his father, whereby the son receives half of the harvest in exchange for providing seedlings, irrigation water, fertilizers, plowing, and labor. The proof for this is that the Prophet (peace be upon him) made an agreement with the people of Khaybar that they would cultivate it with their own resources in exchange for half of what came out of it in terms of fruits and crops. This is the basis for the permissibility of musaqat (irrigation contract) and muzara'ah (sharecropping). The sharecropping agreement is dissolved upon the death of either party, whether the landowner or the sharecropper. The heirs then have the option to divide the land or to conclude a new sharecropping contract for their share.
