What is the ruling on remaining in a place where songs are being played against my will, while I am wearing the hijab and am unable to leave the place or change the wrongdoing?

May Allah accept your hijab. We wish to alert you to the prohibition of singing, based on the following Shar’i (Islamic legal) texts: 1. Allah the Almighty says: "And of mankind is he who purchases idle talk to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment." (Luqman: 6). Ibn Mas'ud interpreted "idle talk" as singing. 2. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There will be among my Ummah (nation) people who will consider unlawful al-hir (unlawful sexual intercourse), silk, wine, and musical instruments." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari). 3. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Some people from my Ummah will drink wine, calling it by another name, and musical instruments will be played for them, and singing women [will sing for them]. Allah will cause the earth to swallow them and will transform them into apes and pigs." (Narrated by Al-Bayhaqi and authenticated by Al-Albani).

Based on this, you must leave any place where singing is heard, as much as possible. If you are at home, move to another room. If this is possible at work, then do so. Otherwise, you must leave this profession, unless you are compelled and cannot find any other work. Allah has removed hardship from His servants, as He says: "And He has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty" (Al-Hajj: 78), and "So fear Allah as much as you are able" (At-Taghabun: 16).
