Is it true that the believer will suffer the torment and narrowness of the grave, or are the hadiths that speak of the expansion of the believer's grave, its light, and his peaceful sleep until the Day of Resurrection the correct ones?

There is no contradiction between the texts regarding the torment and blessings of the grave. The blessings of the grave are for the perfect believer, while its torment is for disobedient Muslims, such as those who sleep through obligatory prayers, fornicators, usurers, liars, those who do not shield themselves from urine, and backbiters. The torment of the grave is of two types: permanent, as indicated by His Almighty's saying: (The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening), and a type that ceases after a period, which is the torment of some disobedient individuals whose sins are lighter, and it may be alleviated for them by supplication, charity, or seeking forgiveness.

There is a difference between the torment of the grave that afflicts the disobedient and the squeezing of the grave and the trial by the two angels that affects everyone, even the righteous. This is not a torment but rather a horror and intensity.

The estimation of the cubit mentioned in the hadith as six inches has no basis. The life of the Barzakh (interim period) is from the unseen, which cannot be measured by worldly standards. The intention is that the believer's grave is expanded for him as far as his sight can reach.
