Does the torment of the wicked and the bliss of the believer in the grave continue until the Day of Judgment, or is it just for one day, and is there any evidence for a person's transition in their grave to another life that continues until the Day of Judgment?

A human being's life is divided into three stages: this worldly life (al-Dunya), the intermediate life (al-Barzakh), and the Hereafter (al-Akhira). The life of al-Barzakh is the stage after death until the Hour is established, and it includes those who were buried and those who were not. Evidence for this life is that the deceased hears the footsteps of his family after his burial. This life is either a state of bliss or torment, and the grave is either a garden from the gardens of Paradise or a pit from the pits of Hellfire. This is indicated by the Almighty Allah's saying concerning Pharaoh's people: "The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening. And on the Day the Hour is established [it will be said], 'Admit the people of Pharaoh to the severest punishment,'" and by the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying: "When one of you dies, his place is shown to him in the morning and in the evening. If he is one of the people of Paradise, then [he is shown the place] of the people of Paradise; and if he is one of the people of Hellfire, then [he is shown the place] of the people of Hellfire." These texts prove the torment of the grave, which continues for some people; the disbeliever's torment is continuous, while the disobedient believer is tormented according to his sins, and his torment may cease.
