Is what the questioner is suffering from—namely, intrusive thoughts, sexual images, and tightness in the chest—a punishment from Allah or from Shaytan, and what should he do about selling the house in which he committed the immoral act, given his fear of his father’s rejection, who is unaware of the matter?

The repentant person must cast away the whispers of Satan and know that repentance erases all sins that preceded it, as if he were born anew. If he feels distress, he should remember Allah, seek His forgiveness, and seek refuge in Him from Satan. He is advised to seek good company that helps in doing good deeds. As for the house in which Allah was disobeyed, it should not be sold; rather, it should be filled with obedience just as it was filled with disobedience.
