Is it permissible to inject autologous fat taken from an area of the body rich in fat into another area with little fat to achieve body contouring?

Cosmetic surgeries are permissible if their purpose is to remove a congenital or acquired defect, or to restore an organ to its natural form, such as treating the enlargement of a body part or severe obesity. Scholars have used as evidence the incident involving the Companion Arfajah ibn As'ad (may Allah be pleased with him) when his nose was severed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted him to use a nose made of gold. They also argued that the prohibition of changing Allah's creation is restricted to seeking beauty and enhancement, not to treatment.

As for operations that aim solely at increasing improvement and beautification, such as changing the shape of the nose or enlarging the lips, they are not permissible and are considered changing Allah's creation. This falls under the warning in the Holy Quran, on the tongue of Satan: "and I will surely command them to alter the creation of Allah."

The International Islamic Fiqh Academy has issued a fatwa permitting necessary and need-based cosmetic surgeries, such as correcting congenital or acquired defects, and restoring the shape of organs to their natural state, while it is not permissible to perform cosmetic surgeries for enhancement that are not part of medical treatment.
