Is it permissible to accept money for Ruqyah, and is healing a condition for giving this money?

There is no objection to taking a fee for ruqyah (exorcism/healing recitation). Indeed, Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri that the Companions took a fee for a ruqyah performed on someone who was stung, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, approved of that.

There are two forms of compensation for ruqyah: 1. It can be a wage: the raqi (performer of ruqyah) is entitled to it whether healing occurs or not. 2. It can be a جعالة (ju'alah - a stipulated reward for a specific task): the raqi is not entitled to it unless healing occurs.

The raqi must perform ruqyah according to the legitimate Islamic ruqyah from the Quran and Sunnah, and must have a sincere intention, knowing that healing is solely in the hands of Allah. The raqi is merely a means, not the healer.
