Is it permissible to take money for reciting the Quran for the sick?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible to take a fee for performing Ruqyah (exorcism/healing through incantations) for a sick person, based on the Hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, where they stipulated a flock of sheep as a fee for performing Ruqyah on a person who had been stung. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, approved of their action and told them: "You have done well. Divide it and give me a share with you." Therefore, there is no objection to taking money obtained by the reciter as compensation, a gift, or charity.
