What is the correct methodology for dealing with Tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis), and how can one select the beneficial among them? And is it considered a sin to suffice with mentioning the meaning of the verse without delving into its many interpretations when teaching people?

Beginners in seeking knowledge are advised to study concise works, as this is more conducive to gaining benefit and mastering sciences. In the science of Tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis), these include: "Taysir al-Karim al-Rahman fi Tafsir Kalam al-Mannan" by Al-Sa'di, and "Tafsir al-Jalalayn" (with some reservations), and "Aysar al-Tafasir" by Sheikh Abu Bakr al-Jazairi. It also aids in seeking knowledge to receive it directly from scholars, and Allah has made this easy by making audio and visual means available. Whoever understands the meaning of a verse or a Hadith and conveys it correctly will be rewarded, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Convey from me, even if it is a single verse." One must beware of interpreting the Qur'an based on blameworthy personal opinion.
