Is a person given tidings of Paradise or Hell before the Reckoning?

Glad tidings of Paradise and warning of Hellfire are of two types: The first is general, for whoever obeys or disobeys. This type has been established by the Messengers and their followers, who gave glad tidings and warnings to people through it, and it is indicated in numerous places in the Holy Qur’an. The second type is specific to individuals whose fate was known through revelation, such as the glad tidings given to Khadijah and the ten companions promised Paradise, and the warning of Hellfire given to Qazman, the people of Pharaoh, and Karkarah.

Furthermore, there is the glad tidings given by angels to the righteous at the time of death and in the grave, promising them Paradise, and the opposite for the wicked. This is indicated by His (Allah's) saying: "Indeed, those who say, 'Our Lord is Allah,' and then remain steadfast - the angels will descend upon them, [saying], 'Do not fear and do not grieve, but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised.'" And by the Hadith (definition) in Al-Bukhari, which gives the believer glad tidings of his place in Paradise after his correct answers in the grave, along with his seeing his place in Hellfire that Allah has exchanged for Paradise.

A Muslim should strive for obedience, steadfastness, and repentance to attain the good tidings.
