Is it forbidden to roll up a head covering (ghitā’ ar-ra’s) during prayer while wearing a jalabiya, considering it as one of the prohibited acts of rolling up (al-kaff al-manhi ‘anhu), or is it overlooked because this rolling up is done outside of prayer according to custom?

It was previously explained that tucking one's garment (kaff ath-thawb) in prayer is prohibited, and this prohibition includes tucking it during and before the prayer. Removing a burnoose from the head during prayer may fall under the prohibited kaff if it is done without need, as it distracts from the prayer and contradicts khushu' (devotion). Imam Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, justified the prohibition on this basis. However, removing a burnoose out of necessity, such as due to intense heat, is permissible, as it helps in achieving khushu'.
