What is the ruling on the prayers performed over the three days by a person who placed a splint on part of his leg and wiped over his sock for three days, knowing that part of his leg was sound?

If a man wipes over a splint, and then puts on socks while in a state of purity, he may wipe over them for one day and one night if resident, and for three days and nights if traveling.

It is permissible to wipe over socks that were worn over a splint that has already been wiped over.

However, wiping over socks considering them as a splint is not valid, because socks can be removed, unlike a splint. Furthermore, the Sacred Law has specified a duration for wiping over socks, unlike a splint, which is wiped over until its cause is removed.

Therefore, whoever wipes over socks as if they were a splint and exceeds the legally prescribed duration, his ablution is not valid, and he must repeat the prayers he performed with that ablution.
