What is the ruling on producing computer games that contain drawn or 3D images of living beings, and does the quality of the image in terms of detail affect the ruling?

It was mentioned in a previous fatwa that games and cartoon films are permissible if they promote virtue and Islamic manners, and are free from forbidden elements such as music and indecent images. The majority of scholars have made an exception for photographing and making statues of children for educational purposes and for companionship, and if it is permissible to play with them, then it is permissible to manufacture them. The quality of the image affects the ruling; thus, unclear images whose features cannot be distinguished do not fall under the prohibition.
