Is it permissible in Islamic law to design and publish 3D characters and animals in games?

Previous fatwas stated that games similar to cartoon films are permissible if they promote virtue and Islamic manners, and are free from forbidden elements such as music and vulgar images. This exception from the prohibition of drawing and statues applies specifically to what is made for children to educate and entertain them, especially if it serves as an alternative to forbidden games. We did not say that they are not included in the warning (of punishment), but rather that they are excluded from it.
