Is the tribulation that befell me, in the form of intrusive thoughts (waswasa) and doubts about the existence of God, Paradise, and Hell, after my commitment to acts of obedience and escape from temptations, considered a tribulation of empowerment (tamkeen)? The obsessive doubt about the existence of Allah and mockery of rituals is an affliction from Satan, and the one afflicted by it is not held accountable. Affliction is a universal law and a divine wisdom to distinguish the truthful in their faith. It purifies from sins and elevates ranks. Empowerment comes only after affliction, and supplication is among the greatest means of repelling and lifting affliction.
