I have money in the bank and I took its interest and spent it. Then I regretted it and decided not to take it in the future and to switch to transactions without interest. I have received new interest and I want to donate it as charity, but Allah only accepts that which is good. I was asked about the possibility of spending it on the welfare of Muslims, such as paying bills for the needy, and how to repent from the previous money.

Usury is one of the gravest sins. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses. Usurious interest is forbidden and must be disposed of by spending it on general Muslim welfare or by giving it to the poor and needy with the intention of disposal, not charity. If the funds are from usury, they must be returned to their owners. If this is not possible, they should be given to the poor. If there are many injustices and it is not possible to return the funds, then one must dispose of everything in their possession, either to the needy or for the benefit of Muslims.
