What is the ruling on shaving the beard, smoking, and isbal (letting one's garment hang below the ankles) when it is not out of arrogance? And what is your advice to me regarding smoking and shaving the beard?

One who possesses praiseworthy qualities such as observing prayers, frequenting mosques, memorizing the Quran, and avoiding listening to falsehoods, his state is inconsistent with his persistence in blameworthy traits and trivial sins. His prayers and Quran should deter him from everything his Lord has forbidden him, and God's verses should compel him to sincere repentance from all sins and transgressions. Furthermore, he should familiarize himself with the rulings concerning shaving the beard, smoking, and isbal (letting one's garment hang below the ankles). He must also know that Allah may withdraw guidance from a servant if he persists in committing evil deeds, as was the case with the one to whom Allah gave His signs, but he cast them away, and like the conduct of Thamud, who preferred blindness over guidance.
