Is a strong believer better than a weak one, and what is the ruling on strenuous exercise if it affects a person's ability to worship and recite the Quran?
A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer. Strength is required in creed and faith, and in all aspects of life, including physical strength. Islam has paid attention to the spiritual and physical aspects of a human being and has encouraged mental and physical exercise, regulated by Sharia guidelines. Physical exercise is a means of strength for protecting the religion and supporting Muslims. If sports become an end in themselves or distract a Muslim from what benefits them, then they have deviated from their intended Sharia purpose. If they exhaust the body and hinder a Muslim from their nightly prayers (wird from the night) and Quran recitation, then they should avoid them. And His saying, the Almighty: (So recite what is easy [for you] of the Quran) abrogates the obligation of night prayer (qiyam al-layl) which was initially enjoined upon Muslims, then its obligation was abrogated by the five daily prayers, and qiyam al-layl remained a sunnah as a减轻 (takhfif) for Muslims.
