How do we respond to those who say that things which are created are originally created from living things, citing examples such as seeds and semen, and how do we reconcile these examples with the words of Allah Almighty: ﴿He brings forth the living from the dead, and He brings forth the dead from the living﴾?

The exegetes (mufassirun) mentioned several interpretations for the verse:

- First: Bringing forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living. They illustrated this with the emergence of a living human from dead sperm, and dead sperm from a human; and the emergence of a chick from an egg and a bird from a chick.

- Second: Bringing forth the living believer through faith from the disbeliever who is dead by disbelief, and vice versa.

- Third: Bringing forth the living ear of grain from the dead seed, and the living palm tree from the dead date pit, and vice versa.

Science has since advanced and proven that the origins of living beings, such as seeds, eggs, and sperm, contain cellular life, and that the early exegetes relied on the knowledge prevalent in their era. Today, the verse can be interpreted as the emergence of the living from the dead, such as the growth of plants from the earth, and the expulsion of the dead from the living, such as the body shedding dead cells. The purpose of the verse is to demonstrate Allah's comprehensive power in creation and governance.
