Can a Muslim ask God to be with his wife only in Paradise, without the houris?
What appears to be the case is that what you are saying is an aggression in supplication, which necessitates prohibiting it, for several reasons, including:
1. It is a rejection of Allah Almighty's grace and generosity towards His servants whom He honored with Paradise, and by it He indicated their state and what they will be in. So your supplication is a rejection of this blessing that Allah bestowed upon those whom He honored with Paradise and greatly encouraged them towards it, as in His Almighty saying: (Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place. In gardens and springs. They will wear fine silk and brocade, facing each other. Thus. And We will marry them to wide-eyed houris) (Ad-Dukhan/ 51-54).
2. Your supplication against marriage to the houris indicates your ignorance of the reality of the blessing that Allah has bestowed upon those for whom Paradise is decreed. The descriptions of the houris, which Allah Almighty has informed us about, make a Muslim yearn to attain this blessing and grace. And whoever restricts this blessing to mere sexual intercourse has erred in his understanding of the reality of that blessing and has not appreciated it as it truly deserves. It has been narrated that the houris will sing for their husbands in Paradise, and it is narrated from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: (Indeed, the wives of the people of Paradise will sing for their husbands with the most beautiful voices anyone has ever heard. Among what they will sing: 'We are the good, the beautiful, the wives of noble people') Narrated by Al-Tabarani.
3. It appears that one of the reasons for your desire for such a supplication is your being influenced by romantic love stories, which exaggerate in highlighting the love of each party for the other. There is no harm in the spouses loving each other; rather, it is a desirable and praiseworthy matter. However, exaggerating in it to the extent that one dislikes the idea of another marriage in this world, despite Allah's legislation of it and the reliance of many worldly interests on it, this is indeed reprehensible. And now we see that this exaggeration has reached the Hereafter, so one dislikes his wife having a partner in Paradise.
So know that the matter of Paradise is different, and its state is different from the state of this world, and there is nothing in it from this world except names. So strive to tread the path leading to it, and supplicate to Allah to make you one of its people. Then abandon measuring by the state of this world, and do not restrict Allah's vast mercy. And there, Allah willing, if you are among its people, you will know that the matter is different.
