What are the reasons that help one remain steadfast in obedience?

The most important things that help a servant remain steadfast in obedience and avoid disobedience are seeking Allah Almighty's help, resorting to Him, and asking Him for steadfastness, saying: "Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower," and "O Allah, Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion." Also, striving against the self and persevering in good deeds with gentleness, for a little that is continuous is better than a lot that is intermittent. And frequently contemplating Allah's names, attributes, and blessings, and holding oneself accountable. And associating with the righteous, and seeking beneficial knowledge.
