Is married life considered unlawful with a husband who does not pray and drinks alcohol?

The default is the continuation of the marital bond unless proven otherwise. Therefore, the mere abandonment of prayer by the husband out of negligence or his drinking of alcohol does not expel him from Islam according to the majority of jurists, nor does it forbid marital relations. However, he must be advised and reminded gently and kindly. If he does not repent, it is recommended for the wife to separate from him by divorce or khul‘ (dissolution of marriage); for there is no good for her in associating with someone like him.
