Is blood money obligatory upon a 10-year-old boy who caused his friend to lose an eye while playing with a piece of wood containing a nail, and what is its amount in Saudi Riyals, and is it permissible for the guardian of the injured person to waive it?

The diyah (blood money) for an eye, and the loss of its sight, is half the diyah for a soul, which is fifty camels. This diyah is incumbent upon the Aqilah (the male agnates of the offender). Scholars have stipulated that the diyah for a free, male Muslim is one hundred camels for those who deal in camels, two hundred cows for those who deal in cows, two thousand sheep for those who deal in sheep, one thousand dinars for those who deal in gold, twelve thousand dirhams or ten thousand for those who deal in silver, and two hundred hullas (garments) for those who deal in garments. The guardian of a child is not entitled to waive the diyah because it is the child's own right due to the harm he has suffered.
