What is the ruling on unmarried women wearing makeup at home with the intention of adorning themselves for their own sake and in front of their daughters? Is it forbidden?

An unmarried woman is permitted to wear light makeup and adorn herself within the limits of Islamic law, provided that the purpose is adornment and not ostentation (tabarruj), and that it does not involve imitating disbelieving women. This is also contingent upon her covering her face from non-mahram men. As for lipstick, its original ruling is permissibility unless its harm becomes evident. The Prophetic Sunnah and the actions of the female Companions indicate the permissibility for an unmarried woman to adorn herself with the intention of marriage. Nevertheless, a girl must obey her parents if they forbid her from adorning herself, unless their prohibition is purely foolish or causes her harm or hardship, while also considering social customs that might affect her reputation.
