Is it permissible to eat meat not slaughtered according to Islamic rites when it is difficult to purchase halal meat due to its high price or lack of time?

If you are certain or highly suspect that the meat in a restaurant is from animals forbidden to consume, such as pork, or was not slaughtered according to Islamic law, such as by electric shock, then it is not permissible to eat it. This is because it is forbidden by a clear text in the Qur'an: "Forbidden to you are carrion, and blood, and flesh of swine, and that over which any name other than God's has been invoked, and the strangled, and the beaten to death, and the fallen, and the gored, and that which wild beasts have devoured, except that which you slaughter [in the proper way]; and that which is sacrificed on stone altars [to idols]." Meat slaughtered by electric shock is considered carrion and is not permissible to eat. It is preferable and safer to purchase meat that has been slaughtered in a verified Islamic manner.
