Is it permissible to eat meat not slaughtered according to Islamic law in Germany when ritually slaughtered (halal) meat is available, knowing that the ritually slaughtered meat available may not be of good quality?

It is not permissible to eat what has been slaughtered without the mention of Allah's name, or upon which a name other than Allah's has been invoked, or that has died by electrocution or striking without proper Islamic slaughter. This is based on the Almighty's saying: "Forbidden to you are carrion," and "And do not eat of that upon which the Name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, that is an open disobedience." A Muslim must seek what is lawful and distance themselves from what is unlawful.
