What is the ruling on skin peeling?
Skin peeling is the removal of the outer layer of the skin. The Sunnah has prohibited facial peeling, as narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the peeler (al-qashirah) and the peeled (al-maqshurah), the tattoist (al-washimah) and the tattooed (al-mawshumah), and the hair extender (al-wasilah) and the one who has her hair extended (al-mutasilah)." This prohibition is the view of most scholars because it involves altering Allah's creation, or because it is a mark of immoral women, or for deception. There is no harm in removing facial blemishes and improving the face by means other than peeling, and in a way that does not harm the face.
