Was Nimrod alive in the time of Abraham (peace be upon him), considering that Abraham was thrown into the fire?

Neither Allah the Almighty nor His Messenger mentioned the name of the king who disputed with Abraham (peace be upon him). However, he became widely known as Nimrod in the discourse of scholars and was transmitted from the Companions. This appellation was taken from the People of the Book. Knowing his name does not entail any action; the lesson lies in the story itself, affirming Allah's power and the impotence of creation.
